Step 2: (0988) Preparation of N-((3-chloropyrazin-2-yl)methyl)formamide: (0989) [00368] To a stirred solution (3-chloropyrazin-2-yl)methanamine hydrochloride (0.5 g, 2.77 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 mL) and N,N-dimethyl formamide (4 mL) were added N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.72 mL, 4.16 mmol), 1-Ethyl-3-(3- dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide (0.79 g, 4.16 mmol), 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (0.37 g, 2.77 mmol) , formic acid (0.135 mL, 3.60 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was quenched with water (50 mL) and extracted with dichloromethane (3 x 80 mL). The combined organic layer was washed with brine (40 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and evaporated to get the crude product.
