To a solution of (2R)-(-)-2,5-dihydro-3,6-dimethoxy-2-isopropylpyrazine(0.61 g, 4.36 mmol) in THF (8 mL) was added n-BuLi (2.5 M in hexane, 1.8 mL, 4.58 mmol) at -78 °C.
