General procedure: Synthesis of meso-substituted calixarenes 4a-f (general procedure). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h, followed by the addition of AcCl (0.14 mL, 2.0 mmol). The mixture was concentrated at reduced pressure. The residue was subjected to column chromatography on SiO2, the eluate was concentrated dry in vacuo.
