The reaction mixture was warmed to r.t. and stirred for 30 min, followed by addition of satd. aq. K2CO3 (40 mL) and EtOH (20 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred for another 1 hr and extracted with EA (2*20 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated and purified by standard methods to afford (6-chloropyrazin-2-yl)methanol. LC-MS: m/z 145.0 (M+H)+.
