A mixture of 6-bromo-3-chloropyrazine-2-methylcarboxylate (2 g, 7.95 mmol), tert- butyl N-(4-methylpiperidin-4-yl)carbamate (1.87 g, 8.74 mmol), N,N-Diisopropylethylamine (6.57 mL, 39.7 mmol), and 40 mL of acetonitrile was allowed to stir in a sealed tube at 35 C for 2 hrs, followed by concentration under reduced pressure. The residue was extracted with EtO Ac/water, dried over magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting product was submitted to the next step without further purification. XH NMR (500 MHz, Methanol-d4) delta 8.27 (s, 1H), 3.95 (s, 3H), 3.68 – 3.59 (m, 2H), 3.32 – 3.27 (m, 2H), 2.14 (d, J = 13.9 Hz, 2H), 1.59 (ddd, J = 14.1, 10.8, 4.1 Hz, 2H), 1.46 (s, 12H), 1.35 (s, 3H).
