The reaction was allowed to cool to RT and then quenched by the addition of 1 L of water/ice. The resulting solution was extracted with EtOAc (2¡Á2 L). The organic layers were combined, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated. The resulting black oil was used in the next step without further purification.
