To a stirring mixture of 5-aminopyrazine-2-carbonitrile (433 mg, 3.61 mmol) in THF (10 mL) was slowly added sodium hydride (240 mg, 6.02 mmol) below 15 C. The reaction mixture was quenched with ice-water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over Na2504 and concentrated to afford the title compound 306-3 (1.5 g, crude) as a yellow oil. LCMS:405.0[M+1].
